Jodhpur: SI Mahendra Choudhary injured in SC/ST Bharat Bandh clashes dies

Jaipur: The Rajasthan police department on Tuesday mourned the death of sub inspector (SI) Mahendra Choudhary who had suffered cardiac arrest during Bharat Bandh organized over a Supreme Court judgement regarding SC/ST Atrocities Act. Mahendra Choudhary had been seriously injured in the stone pelting incident that occurred during the bandh in Jodhpur on Tuesday. He again suffered cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment, sources said.

SI Choudhary was being rushed to Ahmedabad as his condition deteriorated. A team of doctors was in the ambulance. Choudhary suffered another heart attack. The team of doctors tried to save him, but he died on the way.

Mahendra Choudhary who was with Udaipur Mandir police station was deputed at Pawta Chauraha. He suffered a cardiac arrest. He was rushed to a hospital by his colleagues. Senior police officers including police commissioner Ashok Rathore also rushed to the hospital to check on his health. He died while undergoing treatment on Tuesday.

The doctors gave him electric shocks, but despite trying their best they couldn’t save him.

The clashes occurred when the bandh supporters were forcing traders to close shops in the busy markets. The police fired tear gas to control the mob. In retaliation, the bandh supporters pelted stones. An SHO and an ASI were among the five policemen injured. The condition of ASI Mahendra Choudhary is stated to be critical.
