Jodhpur: Jilted lover murders girlfriend before committing suicide

Jaipur: A 25-year-old garment trader first stabbed his girlfriend to death and then committed suicide by jumping in front of a train in Jodhpur. They had been in a relationship for the past five years, but when the girl got engaged to someone else, he killed her before ending his own life. The girl was a law student, while the man was a garment trader. Her body was found in a hotel in Jodhpur Medical Market.

According to the police, the 25-year-old girl, identified as Lakshita, was a resident of Sojat Road in Pali and was pursuing a law degree in Jodhpur. Her boyfriend Hemant Maheshwari was a resident of Nagaur.

The family members of Lakshita were not happy with their relationship. Lakshita’s engagement ceremony was organized five days ago. This enraged Hemant. The couple met at a hotel in Jodhpur Medical Market on Tuesday. Hemant stabbed Lakshita to death and left the hotel. His body was found on railway tracks near Mandor.

According to the police, both were planning to get married, but Lakshita’s engagement to someone else infuriated Hemant. He left his home on Tuesday telling his family members that he was going to visit a waterpark. Lakshita received him at Jodhpur railway station and both came to the hotel in an auto. Lakshita’s parents lodged a missing persons report after she didn’t attend their calls on Tuesday. The police traced her location based on her mobile call records and reached Hotel Riddhi Siddhi.
