Jaipur: A Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) student, identified as Mahesh Panwar, committed suicide by consuming poisonous substance in Pipar City of Jodhpur district. He first made a suicide video claiming that he was being implicated in a bogus case of harassing a Dalit girl. He said that he was dragged to a police outpost and threatened. Though it was not his mistake, he had brought disrepute to his family so he was committing suicide, Mahesh stated on camera.

The victim, Mahesh Panwar, was a second year BCom student at JNVU. In the video, he alleged that he was being implicated in a bogus SC/ST Act following his love affair with a girl. He alleged that he was being threatened by the family members of the girl. He consumed poisonous substance on March 1. He was referred to MDMH in Jodhpur where he died while undergoing treatment on Friday.

He alleged that some youths forcibly took him to a police outpost where they accused him of harassing a girl. Mahesh alleged that the girl used to send him messages and he never made any advances. He was later released from the police outpost. He reached home and then consumed poison.

In the video that he shot before committing suicide, Mahesh Panwar sought an apology from his parents and said that he hadn’t done anything wrong. He alleged that some people were threatening to implicate him in a bogus SC/ST Act. He had brought disrepute to his family, so he was ending his life, Mahesh said in the video.

The boy’s uncle Mukesh Solanki has registered an FIR with the police.

The boy’s father Mohan Panwar, his mother and other family members were inconsolable.

Police officials said that they have launched an investigation.
