Jaipur: The polling for student union elections 2018 at Jai Narayan Vyas University Jodhpur (JNVU) was successfully conducted from 8 am to 1 pm amid high police security on Monday. Over 46.22% of the voters took part in the voting at 41 polling booths.

Apart from some sporadic incidents at some places, the polling went off peaceful. More than half the voters did not turn up to vote. The counting of the votes and the results will come out tomorrow.

Only 5% of the voters cast their votes in the first hour of voting.  Student unions leaders, candidates and their supporters started bringing voters to the polling stations. As a result, the number of voters at the polling stations increased rapidly. There were long lines of voters at many centers.

The highest, 58.84% of voting, was recorded at the science faculty, while the lowest, 29.76 % took place in the commerce faculty. Around 48.64% voting was reported at arts faculty, 45.75% at KN College and 52.29% at engineering faculty.

The administration tried to stop bogus voting. Five girl imposters were caught at KN College.
