Jaipur: The Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) launched the ‘Swachhata-MoHUA’ app this year in January to resolve complaints related to sanitation and waste within 12 hours of being reported in the city.

The biggest challenge that lies ahead of newly appointed Jaipur mayor Manoj Bhardwaj is to improve Jaipur’s rating in Swachh Survekshan 2019.

A meeting presided over by Mayor Manoj Bhardwaj was conducted at JMC headquarters on Friday. Bhardwaj said that the citizens along with JMC team will make every possible effort for increasing the raking of Jaipur in Swachthha Survey 2019, which will begin on January 4.

“Every shop and business establishment in the city must have a dustbin. If garbage will be found littered outside any shop than a penalty will be imposed. Polythene is already banned and if any business is found using them, the owner will be penalized,” he said.

Brand ambassadors will be appointed in the city for the cleanliness drive. These organizations and ambassadors will be rewarded and felicitated for their contribution to the cleanliness drive.

According to JMC officials, more than 1600 complaints are received on the app daily. Ten percent of the complaints have been found to be fake. The JMC team resolves the complaint in less than 24 hours.

What is Swachhata- MoHUA App?

The ‘Swachhata-MoHUA’ is the official app of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA)
The app enables a citizen to report a civic-related issue to the local municipal council. The complaints about garbage dump, or unclean public and community toilets, overflowing dustbins and other related issues came made through the app. The users can also post complaints about lack of power and water supply in public and community toilets along with animal carcass dumped at undesignated locations.
The complaint then gets forwarded to the city corporation and thereafter assigned to the sanitary inspector of the particular ward.

How the app works?

  • Take a picture of the civic-related issue using your Smartphone and post it in one of the given categories.
  • The app will capture the location. Just type in the landmark of the location. The complaint will then be assigned to the concerned sanitary inspector/engineer.
  • You can also rate the response of the civic authorities. You will get regular updates on the status of the complaint in form of push notifications. When the complaint has been resolved, an image will be uploaded by the assigned sanitary inspector/engineer.
  • You can also reopen the complaint if you are not satisfied with the response.

Steps to download the app

  • Go to the Google Play Store
  • Type ‘Swachhata-MoHUA’
  • Install the app and select the preferred language in the app
  • Register your mobile number
  • Enter OTP and take the cleanliness survey
  • Register your complaint by uploading photo, video or text.
