Jhotwara: Man shoots girl to death in car, attempts suicide

Jaipur: A youth allegedly shot to death a young woman and then attempted suicide in Sirram Nagar Extension area of Jaipur on Tuesday. The body of the girl was found in a car bearing a Chandigarh vehicle registration number. The youth was found in an unconscious state next to her. However, he survived and is undergoing treatment in a hospital in critical condition. The police suspect that the incident was the fallout of an affair; however, further investigation is going on.

According to preliminary reports, the youth has been identified as Govind Soni alias Guddu and the woman as Varsha Soni. Both are residents of Jhotwara area and live in the same neighbourhood.

Some people saw the girl lying in a pool of blood in the car parked in Sriram Nagar Vistar (Extension) in the morning. They informed the police following which a team was rushed there. According to the officials, the girl had left her home to run some errand when she met the youth. He asked her to get into the car and then shot her. He then turned the weapon on himself to commit suicide, however he survived.

“His condition is critical. Further investigation is going on,” said a police officer.
