JAIPUR: BJP candidate from the Jhotwara assembly, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, has reported an incident where his speech was maliciously edited and shared online. His chief election agent, Surendra Singh Naruka, has filed a case at the Cyber Police Station regarding the matter.
During his election campaign, Rajyavardhan Singh appealed to increase voting percentages in cities to match those in villages. It’s reported that this speech was edited to misrepresent his words.
The report accuses Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinet of sharing the doctored video from her Twitter account, @supriyaShrinate. Congress candidate Abhishek Chaudhary from Jhotwara and independent candidate Aashu Singh Surpura are also alleged to have circulated this edited clip. The act is deemed criminal, and intended to damage Singh’s reputation, the FIR alleged.
Alongside the complaint, a pen drive was provided to the cyber station containing the original appeal by Rajyavardhan Singh and the manipulated video clip. Singh said that his opponents, facing a clear defeat, have resorted to such misconduct.
