JEE coaching student commits suicide in Kota; Note recovered

The victim was preparing for the engineering entrance exam at a coaching institute in Kota. He was a resident of Madhya Pradesh.

Jaipur: A 16-year-old coaching student, identified as Pratham Jain, committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his hostel room in Malviya Nagar First in Kota on Saturday. According to the suicide note recovered by the police, the victim was in love with another boy. The police have launched an investigation based on what he wrote in the suicide note.

The victim was preparing for the engineering entrance exam at a coaching institute in Kota. He was a resident of Damoh area in Madhya Pradesh.

He didn’t show up for his classes at the coaching institute on Friday. When his friends came to his hostel room, they found it bolted from inside. They thought that he might be sleeping and left, but he didn’t get out of the room till late evening.

“When he didn’t come out even for dinner, the friends informed the hostel owner. A police team was rushed to the spot and found his hanging from the ceiling,” said a police officer.

The officer added that a suicide note had been recovered. In the suicide note, the boy stated, “Sorry, mommy and daddy, I am good for nothing. I fought a lot, but couldn’t win. You wasted so much money on me. I am really sorry for that. Now you will need to spend money on Chachu’s study,”

He further stated, “My love was not a lie. It was with a boy, but it was true. I love (another boy’s name) very much.”

The police handed over the body to family members after a postmortem examination.
