Jaipur: The driver, Sidhdhartha Sharma, who allegedly hit a man riding a scooty at JDA circle with his luxury car, was released on bail even before he was booked for negligent driving. At least this is what the police records show. As the senior police officers came to know about this fiasco, the assistant sub inspector (ASI) Prahlad who entered the information of the driver’s bail in the records was suspended.

The over-speeding luxury car was caught on CCTV hitting a scooty driver – later identified as Abhay Daga – at JDA Circle on JLN Marg around 6 am. Abhay – a jeweller – was seriously injured. He is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU of SMS Hospital.

The FIR in this regard was registered against car driver – Sidhdhartha Sharma – at 2 pm. However the police records show that he was released on bail at 9 am, less than three hours after the mishap.

DCP traffic Rahul Prakash suspended the ASI who was investigating the case. Sidhdhartha was called to the police station again and produced in a court. He was remanded in judicial custody. He was booked under section 279, 308, 337, 338 and 185 of MV Act.

DCP Rahul Prakash said that traffic police will be deputed at Rambagh, Trimurti Circle, Gandhi Circle and Birla Temple Circle till 2 am and from 5 am to 7 am.

“We would take strict action against negligent drivers. Their licenses will be impounded,” said the officer.

This was the second mishap due to overspeeding on JLN Marg in three days. On July 16, two siblings were killed when an overspeeding car rammed into their bike at JDA Circle.
