Janahvi case: Father’s girlfriend arrested for murdering 5-year-old girl

Jaipur: Four days after a 5-year-old girl was kidnapped and murdered in Sanganer Sadar area, the police on Wednesday arrested a girl who had an illicit relationship with the child’s father. The 20-year-old girl, identified as Juli Jaikumar and her brother dumped the body after she strangled the child to death. The brother has been arrested. The police have also taken into custody a teenager.
The incident took place on April 4. Janhavi Varma alias Dabbu, a resident of Bakshawala Colony in Sanganer Sadar area disappeared under mysterious circumstances while playing near her home. Father Sanjay Varma registered an FIR in this regard. A team of three police stations started a massive hunt for the girl.
Her body was found in a sack near an apartment building in her colony the next day. The police found injury marks on several parts of the body. After it was confirmed that the girl was kidnapped and murdered, the police launched an investigation. The first clue was two footprints in a flat in the apartment building where the girl’s body was found.
On the basis of these footprints and other clues, the police arrested 20-year-old Juli Jaikumar alias Ekta (20) and his brother John Ashish (19). A teenager who helped the brother-sister duo dump the body was taken into custody.
It came up during preliminary investigation that Sanjay Varma had an illicit relationship with the girl. Sanjay’s wife Anita came to know about it a year ago and started confronting the girl. They had verbal arguments several times in the past one year. The girl wanted to teach Anita a lesson, so she decided to kill Janhavi.Juli took Janhavi to her house where she beat her with an iron and then strangled her to death. When Ashish came to know about it, he and the teenager helped her dump the body.
