Jaipur’s SMS Stadium ready to host IPL 2023 matches, says RCA president Vaibhav Gehlot

JAIPUR: Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) President Vaibhav Gehlot is confident that SMS Stadium in Jaipur is fully ready for the IPL matches. The season will begin on March 31 and it will be after a gap of four years that the SMS Stadium will host IPC matches.
The outfield and pitch of the stadium will prove to be helpful in ensuring entertaining matches like it did every time in the past, Gehlot told media persons.
He said that cricket lovers will be able to watch their favourite players playing on the field comfortably.
“Any decision regarding ticket rates will be taken at the Rajasthan Royals management level only, he said.
A total of 74 matches will be played between 10 teams in this 59-day tournament. Each team will play 14 matches including Rajasthan Royals.
Jaipur will host the IPL again after 4 years. This time five matches of Rajasthan Royals will be played at Sawai Mansingh (SMS) Stadium in Jaipur.
The Rajasthan Royals team will practice at SMS Stadium for ten days from March 21 to March 30 before the IPL excitement begins. For this, pitch numbers 2, 3 and 7 have been reserved in the stadium.
The main pitch for the IPL matches will be prepared only after the practice of the match. The practice, which will last for 10 days, will be held in both morning and evening hours. The first match of Rajasthan Royals will be played in Jaipur with Lucknow Super Giants at SMS Stadium on April 19.
As per the IPL schedule, Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur will be seen taking on Lucknow Super Joints, Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore at their home ground in Jaipur.
Out of the five matches of Rajasthan Royals to be held at SMS Stadium, four matches will take place at 7:30 PM, while 1 match will start at 3:30 PM.
Sanju Samson (Captain), Shimron Hetmyer, Devdutt Padikkal, Jos Buttler, Joe Root, Riyan Parag, Ravi Chandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, famous Krishna, Trent Boult and Jason Holder are playing XI.
