Jaipur: The forest department has reduced the entry fee for Jaipur Zoo as most of the wild animals have been shifted to Nahargarh Rescue Centre. The reduced ticket rates came into effect from April 1. Zoo may be closed after the remaining animals are also shifted.

Following are the new rates:

Domestic visitors: Entry fee reduced to Rs 20 from Rs 30.

Foreign nationals: It has been reduced to Rs 150 from Rs 300.

Students: The new ticket rate is Rs 15 from Rs 20.

Camera charges: Visitor will now pay Rs 75. The charges were Rs 100 previously.

Video camera: It will cost Rs 150, reduced from the earlier fee of Rs 300.

People had been demanding that the entry fee for Jaipur zoo be reduced because most of the animals had been shifted from there.

“Almost 80 percent of the animals have been sheltered at Nahargarh Rescue Centre. There are still a few wild animals including wolves, jackal and deer in the old zoo. They will also be shifted soon,” said a Jaipur Zoo official.

Jaipur Zoo currently located at Ramniwas Bagh will be closed after the shifting work completes.
