Jaipur: Youth Congress supporters demonstrate outside assembly; police resort to lathicharge

Heavy police force was deployed near the assembly to restore law and order. Protestors reportedly pelted stones at police while they were demonstrating, forcing the cops to resort to lathicharge. Several barricades were put up while hundreds of protestors were screaming slogans. Some Congress supporters were injured.

Youth Congress supporters protesting outside assembly

Jaipur: Police on Thursday lathicharged Youth Congress supporters while the latter were demonstrating outside Rajasthan assembly building. The Youth Congress workers were protesting against the Rafale deal, increase in unemployment and petrol and diesel prices in the state. Police resorted to lathicharge and used water cannons to disperse the protestors.

Protestors reportedly pelted stones and manhandled policemen while they were demonstrating, forcing the cops to resort to lathicharge. Several barricades were put up while Hundreds of protestors were screaming slogans. Some Congress supporters were injured.

Ashok Chandana, head of Rajasthan Youth Congress said that the government is defrauding people in the name of Rafael deal. The country is reeling under the inflation due to the increase in petrol and diesel prices. This is not for the first time that administration is trying to muffle our voice, but we would not relent and continue to protest, he said.

Police took several protestors into custody. The protest is still going on. Police forced protestors out of the area by putting up barricades.
