Jaipur woman dies, four family members injured in accident in Bhilwara

The family was returning home after visiting a temple near Kachhola area of Bharatpur district when their car lost balance, overturned and fell into a gorge.

Jaipur: A Jaipur-based family returning home after visiting a temple in Bhilwara district met with an accident near Jahazpur area on Monday night. The car fell into a gorge on the roadside after it lost balance and overturned. A 35-year-old woman was killed, while four others were injured in the mishap.

The deceased was identified as Ankita Jain, a resident of Gopalpura Bypass near Mahesh Nagar in Jaipur. Ankita, Her husband Pankaj Jain and other family members including their daughters Astha Jain (12) and Piyu alias Priya (8) and nephew Ankit Jain (17) had gone to visit Chanvleshwar Temple near Kachhola area of Bharatpur district.

They were returning home after visiting the temple when the mishap occurred near Jahazpur. One Prakash Aheer was driving the car.

“The car lost balance at a steep turn. It overturned and then fell into a 20-feet deep gorge. Ankita died on the spot, while others sustained injuries,” said a police officer.

The officer said that while Pankaj received minor injuries, others have been admitted to a community health center for treatment. Their condition is stable and out of danger.

“Ankita sustained serious head injuries and died of excessive bleeding. Some passers-by informed the police after the mishap following which a team was rushed to the spot. The victims were pulled out of the car and then brought to hospital. Doctors declared Ankita brought dead,” said the officer.

The officer said that an investigation was on to determine as to why the car lost balance.

“It could be due to overspeeding. The turn was very steep and the driver couldn’t slow down the vehicle on time,” said the officer.

The family members have been informed about the mishap.
