Jaipur Tourism: Increase in foreign tourists rejoices travel industry

Nearly 18 lakh people visited Amber fort in 2016-17. Of them, 4.16 lakh were foreigners.

Jaipur: A consistent increase in the number of domestic and foreign tourists visiting Jaipur attractions has boosted the confidence of the city’s tourism industry.

More than 18 lakh (1.8 million) tourists visited the city’s Amber fort alone in 2016-17 financial year. In 2014-15, the number of tourists who visited Amber was nearly 17.74 lakh.

The increase in the number of foreign tourists is a reason for the tourist industry to rejoice as they have their better spending power and engagement.

Compared to 2016-17, Amber attracted 40,000 more foreign tourists.

The number of foreign tourists visiting Amber Fort in 2016-17 was 4,16,080 compared to 3,66,752 in 2015-16.

Since foreign tourists have to shell out higher amount of entry fee compared to domestic ones, Amber fort saw an increase in the income.

Foreign tourists are charged Rs 5,00 as entry fee for Amber for. The entry price is just Rs 100 for domestic visitors.

Demonetisation has played a great role in making e-ticketing facility popular among tourists.

In the last months of 2016, thousands of tourists used booked tickets to visit the city monuments online, leading to fewer crowds outside booking windows.

The Rajasthan government launched several campaigns to attract foreign tourists.
