Jaipur Smart City Mission: Projects worth Rs 500 crore approved; SMS Hospital to get facelift

Jaipur: SMS Hospital has been included in the Jaipur Smart City Mission. A high-tech queue system will be developed at this biggest hospital of the state under the Smart City project.

In a meeting of senior officials of the local self governance department, projects worth nearly Rs 500 crore were announced. Rs 75 crore will be spent on development of various facilities in SMS Hospital including the queue system and an underground bridge connecting the hospital with the medical college building.

The parking will be developed at Ramleela Ground and Ramniwas Bagh at the cost of Rs 90 crore. Rs 20 crore will be spent on a digitalized museum at the new assembly building. Rs 100 crore have been earmarked for the drainage system, while Rs 97.32 crore will be spent on waste management.

Pedestrian walkways, road development and sport facilities have also been included in the smart city project. Rs 40 crore will be spent on the development of sports facilities at Chaugan Stadium and SMS Hospital.

High resolution cameras will be installed at traffic junctions where congestion is frequently reported. These cameras will be connected with the control room for the better management of traffic in the city. Rs 25 crore will be spent on this project.

The meeting of local self governance department took place on Thursday. In the meeting presided over by secretary Bhawani Singh Detha, the officials also reviewed the ongoing projects being undertaken under the Smart City Mission.
