Jaipur: The special operations group (SOG) on Friday arrested one Anil Yadav – a lawyer – after he appeared before a court in the infamous sex blackmailing case. Yadav is accused of blackmailing people along with other members of his gang by threatening to implicate them in bogus rape cases. The SOG has so far arrested 35 members of this gang.
SOG SP Sanjay Kshyotriya said that one Kamesh Gupta had registered an FIR against some people in January for blackmailing him. The SOG launched an investigation and arrested Poonam Kanwar alias Anjali, Vandana Bhatta, Mahesh Kumar and then head constable Balram in connection with the FIR. A total of 11 FIRs were registered during the course of investigation in the matter.
Anil Yadav was also one of the accused. He allegedly connived with Poonam, Vandana, Mahesh and Balram and blackmailed Kamlesh Gupta. They allegedly extorted Rs 8 lakh. Of this amount, Rs 2 lakh was paid to Balram.
The money changed hands at the house of Anil Yadav, officials said. It was for this reason that Yadav was named as accused. Yadav approached Supreme Court requesting an anticipatory bail, but it was rejected and he was directed to surrender before the court within 20 days, officials said. There were however reports that Yadav appeared before the sessions court in Jaipur to seek relief. An SOG team took him into custody.
Further investigation is going on.
