Jaipur: Jaipur is preparing for a major leap in digital infrastructure with plans underway to establish India’s largest data centre in the city, a move that could redefine Rajasthan’s role in the country’s technology ecosystem. The announcement was made during the Rajasthan AI Impact Conference held alongside the Rajasthan Digifest TiE Global Summit 2026 at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said groundwork for the project would begin soon, with the land-breaking ceremony expected in the near future. Once operational, the data centre is expected to significantly strengthen Jaipur’s capabilities in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and large-scale data processing, attracting both domestic and global technology players.
Beyond infrastructure, the initiative is closely linked to human capital development. The Centre has announced a nationwide AI skilling programme, starting from Rajasthan, under which 10 lakh youth will be trained in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. A portion of this training will be routed through industry bodies to ensure practical, job-ready skills.
The conference also highlighted Rajasthan’s upcoming AI and Machine Learning Policy 2026, which focuses on AI-enabled public services, incentives for industries adopting AI, and support for local startups. Speakers noted that combining policy support with infrastructure like a hyperscale data centre could make Jaipur a preferred destination for tech investments.
Officials said the project aligns with India’s rapid rise in global AI rankings and reflects a broader push to ensure that advanced technology reaches beyond metros, creating jobs and innovation opportunities in emerging cities like Jaipur.
