Jaipur: A senior officer of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) was honey trapped and blackmailed by a girl who extorted Rs 4 lakh from him after threatening to make public a photograph showing him in a compromising situation.

The victim is a resident of Jawahar Nagar.

The girl first befriended the officer on Facebook and then sent him her obscene photographs. She asked for similar photographs of the victim in return. When the officer sent her his photographs, she started blackmailing him.

The officer even deposited Rs 4 lakh in her bank account, but when the girl demanded another amount of Rs 10 lakh, he approached the police and registered an FIR with Jawahar Nagar police station.

The bank account in which the officer deposited money has been traced to Goregaon, a suburb in Mumbai. The Facebook account of the girl was created in Turkey.

A police team will be rushed to Goregaon for further investigation.

The victim told the police that he came in contact with the girl on Facebook a few months ago.

She started chatting with him on a regular basis. When the officer sent his photographs, she threatened that she would make these go viral on social media sites and started blackmailing him.

Many cases of honey trap have come to light in Jaipur in the recent past. Earlier this year, SOG had busted a gang that extorted several prominent businessmen, doctors and builders in the city after threatening to implicate them in bogus rape cases.
