Jaipur RTO to send driving license, RC by mail

Jaipur: Jaipur regional transport office (RTO) will send driving license and vehicle registration certificate by post. The project was supposed to be launched from August 1, but it has apparently got delayed due to some delays. The project aims at reining in on middlemen. It will also prevent fraudsters from getting bogus driving license, transport department officials said.

Transport department principal secretary Rajesh Yadav had issued an order to RTO and all the DTOs to start sending driving license and RCs by post from August 1. The RTO and DTO offices at Jagatpura, Jhalana, Vidhyadhar Nagar and Shahpura didn’t comply with the directions.

About 1400 driving licenses are issued by RTO on a daily basis. They were supposed to be mailed to the home address of the applicants. The same system is followed to deliver passports.

“The system will help us check the involvement of middlemen and also verify the authenticity of the applicant’s address provided in the driving license application.  Fraudsters provide bogus address and sometimes get away with it. If the address is not real, the license will be returned to RTO,” said a senior transport department officer.

RTO Jaipur Rajesh Varma said the system will be implemented soon.
