Jaipur ranked cleanest railway station in country

Jaipur: Jaipur Railway Station has been ranked as the cleanest railway station of the country in the latest cleanliness survey conducted by the Ministry of Railways. In fact, the top three cleanest railway stations are from Rajasthan. Jodhpur railway station has bagged the second position, while Durgapura railway station has been ranked no. 3.

Jaipur got the first position despite the fact that the number of railway station reviewed this year was increased to 720. Then number of railway stations was 407 last year.

The ministry had launched a third party audit and cleanliness ranking exercise in 2016. The number of railway stations increased this year. A separate survey was also conducted for 109 suburban stations. Andheri railway station ranked number 1 in this category.

 Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, while releasing the cleanliness rankings, said that the authoriteies should be congratulated for ensuring cleanliness at the railway stations which ranked high in the survey and similar efforts should be made by the railway stations which ranked lower.

In the survey teams formed by the Ministry of Railways for the cleanliness ranking inspected cleanliness at the platforms railway track, station premises, reservation counters and general ticket house among other places. Apart from this, the condition of the Retiring Room, Waiting Room, Restaurant, Bathroom and Toilet were also checked.
