The decision was taken after a dip in the temperature over the past couple of days. The district administration officials were in touch with education department and met authorities. After getting the weather report, the administration decided to end the extended winter holidays from Wednesday.

A senior Jaipur district administration official said that the school timing will continue to be 9 am for students of all standards. The classes will resume for students of up to 8th standards on Wednesday. The students of classes from 9th to 12th were already going to schools.

The parents in the city were confused as they were receiving no communication about extension of winter leaves from the schools over the past few days.

The schools were to reopen from January 1, but keeping in view the cold weather, the administration decided to extend the winter holidays for children studying in classes up to 8th.

There was a slight relief from the cold in the city, but cloudy sky continued to create cold wave conditions on Tuesday.

The winter holidays used to end on January 7 till last year. The state government ordered the schools to resume classes on January 7 from this year only.
