Jaipur police Friday launched an app for tourists

Jaipur: Jaipur Police has launched the PinkGuard app and an AI-driven Crowd Guard system to strengthen safety, convenience and crowd management for visitors to the city, with the rollout beginning at Amer Fort as a pilot project.

The initiative is built around a “Tourist First” concept and is meant to support the more than 1.73 crore domestic and 6.30 lakh foreign tourists who visit Jaipur each year, particularly during the October-to-March peak season when footfall surges at the city’s monuments and bazaars.

Special commissioner of police Omprakash said the PinkGuard app is being developed as a tourist-centric platform that provides curated navigation to attractions, locations of nearby police stations and hospitals with contact numbers and maps, and a list of police-verified tourist guides showing each guide’s name, languages spoken and ratings. It supports multiple languages so that both Indian and overseas travellers can use it.

A built-in feedback and complaint system allows tourists to rate guides and lodge complaints — including against guides — that can be tracked by the user and reviewed by the authorities. The app is designed to work seamlessly across mobile phones, laptops and tablets without requiring a login, so visitors can use it immediately on arrival.

Alongside the app, Jaipur Police is developing the Crowd Guard system to handle the heavy footfall seen during the tourist season, festivals and large public events. The system relies on the existing CCTV network for real-time crowd monitoring and density analysis, anticipates congestion and stampede-like situations, and uses AI-based trend analysis to support crowd management decisions.

Crowd Guard will also generate automated alerts and early-warning notifications for officials, while pushing real-time crowd information to tourists to help them navigate sites more safely.

The project is being launched in its first phase at Amer Fort in coordination with the Jaipur Development Authority. Police said that once the pilot’s outcomes are assessed, the system will be extended to other major tourist destinations across the city.
