Jaipur: Patient jumps off the third floor of NIMS building, dies

Police says the victim committed suicide.

Jaipur: Panic gripped NIMS Hospital situated on Jaipur-Delhi National Highway on Friday when a patient jumped to death from the third floor of its building. Police said it has come up during preliminary investigation that the patient committed suicide. The body has been put in the mortuary of the hospital for a postmortem examination.

The patient was identified as Chhajuram Gujjar, a resident of Bandikui in Dausa. He was admitted in the hospital for an eye operation two days ago.

Chhajuram jumped from the third floor of the building through a window. On hearing a loud thud, people gathered there. The police were informed following which a team was rushed to the spot. He had died by the time police reached there.

No suicide note was recovered.

“We have launched an investigation into the death. Prima-facie, it is a case of suicide, but what caused the victim to take the extreme step will be known after investigation. We are recording the statement of family members,” said a police officer.
