Jaipur: The administration is trying to make separate arrangements to enable COVID-19 patients to cast their votes in the upcoming Jaipur Municipal Corporation elections. COVID-19 guidelines including social distancing will be followed during the election for Greater and Heritage Municipal Corporations in Jaipur. A separate time slot will be decided for Corona-infected patients for voting.

District election officer Antar Singh Nehra said that the district administration is seeking medical and health department’s assistance in this regard. A list of all identified COVID-19 patients will be shared with the district election office by the medical and health department. The list will be prepared ward-wise.

As per preliminary reports, the COVID-19 patients will be able to cast their votes from 5 pm to 5.30 pm. A PPE kit will be made available to them at the polling booth. The patient will put the kit on before casting their votes. The ink won’t be used to mark these voters.

There are over 8000 active COVID-19 patients in Jaipur.

Though only a few days are remaining, the BJP and the Congress are yet to announcement the names of their candidates. The last date for nominations is October 19. Sources said that the BJP and Congress will decide the candidates by October 17 and the nominations will be filed on the same day.
