Jaipur metro phase 2 to be linked to Jaipur airport terminals
Jaipur: The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has issued a formal approval order for the Rs 13,037.66 crore Jaipur Metro Phase-2 project, clearing a 41-kilometre north-south corridor with 36 stations between Prahaladpura and Todi Mod. The order has come 20 days after the Union Cabinet, in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 8, approved the project.
After the cabinet clearance, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma held a high-level review of the project and directed the Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation Limited (RMRCL) to move forward without delay. As the first package, the work order for a 12-kilometre stretch from Prahaladpura to Pinjrapole Gaushala is being readied for issue at the earliest, while tenders for the remaining packages are also being prepared for release in the coming days.
Under the Metro Rail Policy 2017, the central government will contribute 50 per cent equity for Phase-2 implementation, reducing the financial burden on the state. The project is targeted for completion by 2031.
The project will be executed by RMRCL, a joint venture in which the Centre and the state government hold equal 50 per cent stakes.
