Jaipur: The ongoing work for the Jaipur Metro stretch between Chanpole and Badi Chaupar is going on in full swing. The officials said that the work will be completed soon and the Metro will become functional in the next 5-6 months. The work on this 2.5 km long stretch has been going on for the past six years. The Jaipur Metro officials believe that the Metro will play a big role in easing the traffic load in the Walled City and make it more convenient for people to visit its crowded markets.

The excavation work for the tunnel has already been completed. The civil works are also in the final stages. Once the tracks for the Metro are laid, the work on power supply will begin and be completed within the next two months, officials said.

“The excavation work for entry and exit gates has already been completed. All the safety features will be provided in the Metro tunnel and stations. Ventilation fans will ensure that the passengers get fresh air. Three escalators have also been installed. We believe all the work will be completed by September and the Metro will become functional soon after that,” said a senior Jaipur Metro official.

The Jaipur Metro administration has tried to give the Chandpole and Badi Chaupar stations a heritage look. Pink stones are being used at the stations. Jaipur is popularly known as Pink City.
