Jaipur: Poorly maintained low floor buses have become a menace on the roads in Jaipur as they are causing accidents almost daily.

On Tuesday, a low-floor bus lost control and killed a 19-year-old coaching student, Vishal and dragged the girl for 35 feet. The girl riding on the riding was seriously injured. The deceased student was a resident of Malviya Nagar sector – 13 in Jaipur.

The mishap occurred around 4.32 pm in front of JMC headquarters near Rambagh Circle.

The deceased was standing by the roadside. He was going to a coaching center at Gandhi Nagar. The low-floor bus on its way to Sanganer from Ajmeri Gate, lost control and first hit a girl, identified as Vandana Kumari, and dragged her for 35 feet.

The bus didn’t stop there. It mowed down Vishal and rammed into old Passport Office building before coming to a halt.

A stampede-like situation followed the accident at this busy junction.

The bus driver and the helper escaped from the spot after the mishap.

An FIR against them has been registered for rash and negligent driving.

The incident has once again raised questions over the condition of the low-floor buses in the city. Most of these buses are poorly maintained, causing accidents in the city on a regular basis.

Barely a week ago, a running low-floor bus caught fire. Several passengers on board the bus jumped off.
