Jaipur: JMC to issue smart cards for marriage certificates

Jaipur: The Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) will soon start issuing smart cards for marriage certificates which the people can carry in their pockets just like a driving license. The marriage certificates are currently printed on a paper. The new smart cards will be easy-to-carry and difficult-to-forge, a senior JMC official said. It will be a colourful card with a chip.
The decision to replace paper marriage certificates with smart marriage cards was taken in the executive committee of the JMC on Monday.
“The smart will have photograph of the couple just like the current marriage certificate has and the sign of the authorized signature. The fee will be Rs 100 extra, but we believe people will happily pay this because smart cards offer convenience,” said a JMC officer.
After the decision in the executive meeting, the JMC officials will start working on the project. It may take a while to implement it, the officer added.
