Jaipur Jewellery Show (JJS) – 2024 features over 1100 gems and jewellery booths

JAIPUR: Jaipur is famous for its jewelry, and the Jaipur Jewellery Show (JJS) is now a highly anticipated annual event. The jewelry industry is important for the economy, providing jobs for 200,000 people and boosting tourism.
The Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Diya Kumari, highlighted this at the 21st JJS opening, emphasizing the event’s theme ‘Emerald… Your Stone Your Story’. The show, held from December 22-25 at the Novotel Jaipur Convention Center, combines both business-to-business and business-to-consumer aspects.
The Deputy CM praised the JJS for offering opportunities to new designers and jewelers. She suggested taking the show international, like the Jaipur Literature Festival, and promised government support for the industry.
The Chairman of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council, Vipul Shah, noted that despite challenges in 2023, the industry is recovering. Initiatives like the diamond bourses in Surat and Jaipur aim to make India a key player in this sector.
JJS Honorary Secretary, Rajiv Jain, shared that the show has grown from 67 to over 1100 booths since 2003. This year, there are 659 jewelry booths, 318 gemstone booths, and various other types. The show has international exhibitors and expects 50,000 visitors.
Pramod Derewala, Chairman of the National Gems and Jewellery Council of India, discussed the industry’s contribution to the economy and various initiatives like the National Gem & Jewellery Council of India.
Vimal Chand Surana, JJS Chairman, mentioned the Jaipur Royal family’s support for the industry. Saiyam Mehra, Chairman of the All India Gem and Jewellery Domestic Council, highlighted JJS’s competitive edge internationally.
The opening ceremony, led by JJS spokesperson Ajay Kala, showcased a wide range of jewelry and 300 colored gemstones. The event began with a traditional lamp lighting and the release of the JJS Show Guide.
