Jaipur: Foreign nationals visiting Rajasthan for tourism, education or medical treatment can now complete most visa-related formalities within the state, with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) becoming operational in Jaipur.

The new FRRO, located near Jhalana Trikuta, will handle services that earlier required visits to Delhi, including visa extensions, visa category conversions and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) registration. The move is expected to significantly ease travel and administrative burden for foreigners staying in Jaipur and other parts of Rajasthan.

Officials said the office will process cases of tourists seeking to extend short-term visas, students or professionals requiring changes in visa category, and foreign patients whose medical treatment demands a longer stay. Exit permissions for foreigners recovering from illness will also be issued from Jaipur after verification.

The FRRO will also handle OCI applications for foreign nationals of Indian origin, including interviews and registration procedures. This is expected to benefit a large number of NRIs connected to Rajasthan who earlier depended on Delhi-based offices.

In addition, hotels, hospitals and educational institutions hosting foreign nationals will continue to be monitored through mandatory digital reporting. These establishments are required to submit daily arrival details and maintain updated records on the FRRO portal, helping authorities track compliance and prevent visa overstays.

With international tourism, medical travel and foreign student inflow rising steadily, officials say the Jaipur FRRO marks an important step in strengthening the city’s role as a global-facing destination while making immigration services faster and more accessible.

What services are available at FRRO Jaipur?

The Jaipur FRRO will handle:

  • Visa extension requests for foreign nationals staying beyond their original visa period
  • Visa conversion, such as from tourist or education visa to medical visa
  • OCI card registration and interviews for foreign nationals of Indian origin
  • Exit permissions for foreigners who fall ill or require special clearance before leaving India

Earlier, these services were largely centralized in Delhi, often causing delays and logistical issues for visitors staying in Rajasthan.

Who will benefit the most?

  • Foreign tourists wishing to extend their stay in Rajasthan
  • International students enrolled in Jaipur and other cities of the state
  • Foreign patients seeking long-term medical treatment
  • NRIs applying for OCI cards or related documentation

Foreigners entering Rajasthan through Jaipur International Airport or via land routes (such as Munabao, when operational) will now fall directly under Jaipur FRRO’s jurisdiction.

Compliance for hotels, hospitals and institutions

Hotels, hospitals, medical institutes and educational institutions hosting foreign nationals are required to:

  • Maintain detailed records of foreign guests
  • Submit C-Forms (for hotels and hospitals) and S-Forms (for educational institutes)
  • Regularly update details on the FRRO portal

Authorities will continue monitoring visa validity and overstays, with action including search, verification and deportation if violations are found.
