Jaipur: A BTech student, identified as Vijay Pal, committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his rented room in Jaipur’s Kukas area late on Sunday. Police officials said that he had failed in some exams which depressed him. He apparently committed suicide over this; however, no suicide note was recovered.

The deceased, Vijay Pal, was a resident of Dungargarh in Bikaner district. Amber police assistant sub inspector Ranjeet Singh said that he was BTech student at an engineering college and stayed at a paying guest accommodation near the college. There was confusion as to which college he was studying in.

Some friends have told the police that he had slit his wrist out of depression on Sunday.

In the evening, he was found hanging by other guests living in the house. They informed the police following which a team was rushed to the spot.

The police officials said that Vijay Pal was suffering from depression since he scored poor marks in his BTech second year examination.

“It could have led him to end his life; however, we are still investigating,” said a police officer.

The police have got a post-mortem examination conducted and will hand over the body to family members who arrived in Jaipur early Monday.
