Jaipur: Tata Projects officials on Thursday said that the majority of the ongoing work on Dravyavati River Project in Jaipur will be completed by August 15. There had been widespread speculations that the company would not be able to finish the project by its stipulated deadline of October, but the officials in a press conference organized here expressed confidence that they would achieve most milestones by August 15.

JDA officials admitted that they have not been able to start the work on a stretch of 200 meter in Hasanpura near Dugra Colony. The area falls under the jurisdiction of JMC and some issues related to lease deeds are yet to be resolved.

Nearly 18,000 trees are to be planted over a stretch of nearly 47 km which will take some time. The officials said that the ambitious project will go a long way in protecting the environment.

A consortium of Tata Projects and Shanghai Urban Construction Group were tasked with completing the project by October, 2018.

The companies will develop 65,000 square meters green area under this project. This will make it a tourist destination.

Around 180 acres of land will be transformed in terms of commercial development, as more and more real estate projects, MNCs, etc., will open up in the newly reclaimed places. More than 120 acres of land will be left for government use, according to the project report.

Dravyavati River is one of its kind projects in the country as efforts are being made to restore a river from a “dry and arid landscape”. It will not only become an environment friendly tourist destination, but also prevent flooding of Jaipur City.
