Jaipur: Dense fog caused over two dozen vehicles to collide in a massive highway pile-up incident on Jaipur-Delhi National Highway on Thursday morning. Fog has reduced visibility causing the accident. No one was critically injured in the incident; however, at least three people are reported to have sustained minor injuries. They were discharged from hospital after primary treatment.

The incident occurred on NH – 48 near a hotel in Behror area of Alwar district around 7 am. The pile-up involved more than 25 vehicles including trucks, cars and SUVs.

“The cars started piling up on top of each other. Several vehicles reported damaged hoods and windows. However fortunately no one was seriously injured. Three people were taken to a hospital for primary treatment, but they were not hospitalized as the injuries were not severe,” said a police officer.

The officer added that the pile-up caused traffic jam on the national highway for nearly one hour.

Police teams from Behror and Neemrana police stations and NHAI teams rushed to the spot and towed away the vehicles.

“The fog has reduced the visibility on the highway, particularly early in the morning. The visibility improved after 9 am,” said the officer.

He advised people to exercise caution and drive at a slow speed when driving on the highway in the mornings and evenings.

He said that several minor mishaps have taken place in Behror area over the past few days due to the reduced visibility.
