Jaipur: A consumer court in Jaipur has asked an airline to pay a woman a compensation of Rs 1.6 lakh for dropping her and her 4-year-old son at an airport in the middle of their journey when the child complained of fever.

The court considered it service negligence on part of the airline and imposed the penalty. The court also asked the airline to pay the mother-son duo the airfare that they incurred to reach their destination after they were dropped at the Hyderabad airport.

One Sanyukta Gupta, a resident of Malviya Nagar, filed a complaint with a consumer court in Jaipur on April 6, 2012. In the complaint, she stated that she had booked the flight from Bengaluru to Jaipur and paid an airfare of Rs 17,000 for her and her 4-year-old son Samanvaya.

The child complained of fever. The airline staff dropped them at Hyderabad airport after a medical examination.

The woman had to bear the expense of taking another flight from Hyderabad to Jaipur.

She approached the consumer court which said that it was a service negligence on part of the airlines staff and instructed the company to pay a compensation of Rs 1.6 lakh.
