Jaipur: Controversy surrounding Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed film ‘Padmavati’ seems to be getting bigger in Rajasthan with each passing day. A complaint was filed in a court against the director of the film as well as 12 others including the main cast.
One Bhavani Shankar Sharma has filed a complaint against the story of the film ‘Padmavati’ in the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in Jaipur. The court has received the complaint against a dozen people, including filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Deepika Padukone, Ranvir Singh, Shahid Kapoor and Raza Murad. In addition, the role of the censor board has also been questioned in the court.
The complaint mentions that the film is causing disputes in many districts of Rajasthan. It claims that history has been tampered with in the film. The complainant has stated that the film’s trailer was released without its being approved by the censor board and its songs were also out which fueled the controversy.
The libel also mentions that censor board did not raise any objection to the release of the trailers. In such a situation, the role of the censor board is also questionable. The date for hearing has been fixed November 22. On the other hand, after witnessing growing protests against the film, state governments in Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Jammu are favoring a ban on it.
Various organizations in Rajasthan have also questioned the state government about its stance on the film. Today, Chittorgarh MP CP Joshi met Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on the film. Joshi has urged the central government to take a decision on the matter.
