JAIPUR: A woman judge became the victim of a blackmailing attempt on the basis of morphed obscene photographs in Jaipur.
The blackmailer downloaded her photograph from her social media accounts, morphed them and then sent those to her chambers in the court as well as her house. He demanded Rs 20 lakh from the judge threatening to make the morphed photos public. The case was reported about 10 days ago, but the police are yet to arrest the culprits.
The police have identified the blackmailer based on CCTV footage. The FIR in this regard was registered on February 28.
In the FIR, the judge complained that on February 7, she was performing judicial duties in her chambers at the court when her steno brought her a parcel. An unknown man had told the steno that he worked at the school when the judge’s children studied. When the steno enquired about his name, he left in a hurry.
When the judge opened the parcel, there were a packet of sweets and some documents. The parcel also contained some morphed obscene photographs of the judge.
In a letter addressed to the judge, the blackmailer threatened to make the photographs public. He used indecent language.
“I will destroy you and your family if you don’t have Rs 20 lakh ready for me. I will let you know the place and date of delivery,” the letter read.
Another parcel containing similar items was sent to the judge’s residence 20 days later. That’s when she lodged an FIR.
A man in his twenties was caught on CCTV installed at the court when the blackmailer delivered the first parcel.
Based on this footage, the police have launched a search for the suspect.
