Jaipur airport: Man arrested for smuggling gold weighing 1.46 kg

Jaipur: The customs department arrested a man identified as Vikram Jeet Singh for attempting to smuggling gold weighing around 1.46 kg at Jaipur International Airport on Sunday. The man had allegedly hid the gold in his medical belt worn around his chest. The customs department officials are interrogating the man to know who he was smuggling the gold for.

Vikram had landed at Jaipur airport on Sunday. He had come to Jaipur from Dubai. When he was walking through the security check point, the security personnel got suspicious. A security check revealed that he was hiding gold in his medical belt. He had melted the gold to give it a shape to fit the belt.

Customs commissioner Subhash Agarwal confirmed the arrest. He said that further investigation is going on. Many cases of people trying to smuggling gold from abroad have come up in the recent past. Most smugglers were bringing the gold from Dubai and Bangkok.
