The parents will be able to apply for admission on the RTE portal of the Rajasthan education department – http://rte.raj.nic.in/Home/PrivateSchoolPortal.aspx  . The admission will be for a total of 4 lakh seats in the state’s 33,000 private schools. Of them, nearly 78,000 seats are in the 4499 schools in Jaipur.

A parent will be able to apply for admission to a maximum of 15 schools in his or her area. When filling up the online form, the parents have to be very careful as any mistake could lead to the rejection of the application. The parents will be responsible for oversights and mistakes, education department officers said.

It is for the first time in three years that the department has initiated the RTE admission process in February. The students will be able to attend the schools from April 1 after getting admission through lottery.

The lottery will be held on March 9 and the successful students will have to report to their desired school for admission by March 20. The admissions will begin from March 21.

Admissions will be accepted under two different categories. Parents whose combined income is less than 1 lakh per annum are eligible for admission under RTE. In the second category, children of martyrs, people struggling with life-threatening diseases, SC/ST etc could apply. Orphans and disabled children will also be eligible to apply under this category.
