Jaipur: ACB arrests woman drug inspector for taking bribe of Rs 5,000

Jaipur: Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Friday arrested a woman drug inspector, identified as Sindhu Kumari, after she was allegedly caught taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a medical store owner. The inspector was demanding the bribe for not taking any irregularities on record after an inspection of the ACB complainant’s medical store. She has been booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is going on.

DG, ACB BL Soni said that an examination of the complainant’s medical store had been conducted by the drug inspection by the office of drug controller located in Sethi Colony of Jaipur. The drug inspector demanded Rs 10,000 for not mentioning any irregularity in the inspection report. When harassed by the inspector, the owner lodged a complaint with ACB.

A team of the special investigation unit of ACB in Jaipur, headed by Add SP Bajran Singh Sekhawat, verified the complaint. When it was found genuine a trap was laid. Sindhu Kumari had accepted a bribe of Rs 5,000 at the time of verification of the complaint, Soni said adding that she was caught taking Rs 5,000 – the remaining bribe amount – on Friday. Sources said that she asked the ACB complainant to come to a restaurant on B2 Bypass. She was booked and arrested.

The ACB officials are trying to find out if other senior officials were involved in the corruption.
