Ward boy arrested for taking bribe from family of a covid-19 inn lieu of getting them an ICU bed in RHUS Hospital

Jaipur: The Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Saturday arrested a male nurse deputed at Metro Mass Hospital after he was allegedly caught taking a bribe of Rs 23,000 from the family members of Covid-19 patient.

The accused, identified as Ashok Kumar Gurjar, was demanding the bribe to help the family get an ICU bed and other facilities at the government-run RUHS Hospital. Ashok had taken Rs 95,000 from the family before the trap, the officials said. The accused has been booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is going on.

DG, ACB BL Soni said that the family approached the agency following which a complaint was registered. Add SP, ACB Bajrang Singh verified the complaint. A trap team was formed under the supervision of DSP Kamal Nayan.

Ashok is a resident of Bayana area in Bharatpur district. He was caught taking a bribe of Rs 23,000 from the family member of the Covid-19 patient. The ACB arrested him. The ACB teams are carrying out searches at the residence and other places belonging to him.

DG Soni said that the agency is keeping an eye on those who are attempting to extort the family members of Covid-19 during this pandemic. The victims can approach the ACB and register their complaints on toll—free number 1064 or WhatsApp helpline number 9413502834.
