Jaipur: 20,000 people penalized in 3 days for not following COVID-19 guidelines

Jaipur: Nearly 20,000 people were penalized for not following social distancing and other COVID-19 guidelines in Jaipur district in the past three days. The majority of people had to shell out fines for not wearing masks and following social distancing guidelines. The police are also taking strict action against shopkeepers and businesses which are keeping shops and offices open even after 7 pm. Three people were arrested for this in the past 24 hours.
“The Jaipur commissionerate police penalized 6336 people in 24 hours and collected Rs 6.90 lakh as fine from them. We have found that despite repeated requests, the people are not following the COVID-19 guidelines. Not maintaining social distancing and not wearing masks at public places are two of the most common offenses,” said a senior police officer.
He added that 35 police cases were registered in 24 hours against shopkeepers for keeping their shops open even after 7 pm.
Night curfew has been imposed in Jaipur to contain the spread of COVID-19. As per the government orders, people are banned from venturing out of their homes after 8 pm and shops and other commercial establishments should be closed by 7 pm.
