Jaipur: The ban on internet services in Jaipur will be imposed only at only 209 examination centres and their surrounding areas, a senior administration officer clarified. According to an order issued by the divisional commissioner T. Ravikant, the ban on internet services won’t be imposed across the urban area in Jaipur, but only in small pockets where the exam will be conducted on Saturday and Sunday. The internet services will be suspended from 8 pm to 5 pm at examination centres on Saturday and Sunday.

“Keeping in view the possibility that the candidates appearing in the police constable exam might use high-tech gadgets and mobile phones for cheating and paper leak, the mobile internet services are being suspended at 209 examination centres in the jurisdiction of Jaipur commissionerate and 10 examination centres in Jaipur rural,” said the order issued by the divisional commissioner.

A lot of confusion was prevailing whether the internet services would be banned across Jaipur. The order clarifies that the services will be snapped only at examination centres and their surrounding areas.

On the other hand, internet services will be snapped in wider areas in other regions such as Udaipur and Bharatpur, sources said.

The police had a tough time managing the crowd of candidates who arrived at Jaipur railway station and Sindhi Camp bus stand on Friday, a day before the exam.

Many students also caught trains and buses to leave Jaipur to appear in the exam at other places. Nearly 15 lakh candidates are appearing in the police constable exam 2018.
