Jaipur: Poornima University played host to an international gathering of artists, scholars, and industry leaders this month, as the Faculty of Design and Arts organized the 3rd International Conference on “Emerging Trends in Design and Arts (ICETDA 2025).”
The two-day event, marked by research presentations, cultural dialogue, and industry-academic collaborations, drew an impressive global turnout. The conference partnered with Banasthali Vidyapeeth, the Indian Institute of Gems & Jewelry in Jaipur, the Bhartiya Shilpa Sansthan, and the Adelaide Central School of Art in Australia. Taylor & Francis served as the publishing partner, while the Rising AVGC-XR and Media Association joined as the ecosystem partner.
According to organizers, the conference received nearly 450 abstracts and 270 research papers from across India and abroad.
The conference opened with a formal inaugural ceremony. The chief guest, Dr. Dev Swaroop, Vice Chancellor of Vishwakarma Skills University, Jaipur, praised the initiative for “bringing together global perspectives in art and design.”
He was joined by keynote speakers Prof. K. G. Suresh, Director of the India Habitat Center, Delhi; Prof. Dr. Phil. Dominic Lemli of Zurich University of Arts, Switzerland; and Mika Vesalahti, President of the Helsinki Artists Association, Finland.
Special guests included Dr. Tulika Gupta, Director of Bharatiya Shilpa Sansthan, Jaipur; Prof. Sanjeev Bhanawat, a retired professor from Rajasthan University; and Pradeep Ohaja, Joint Director of MSME, Jaipur.
The inaugural ceremony also featured the release of the abstract book and a documentary screening that traced the journey of ICETDA from its earlier editions in 2023 and 2024.
Following the opening, the conference divided into five tracks: Visual Arts; Performing Arts and Communication Design; Animation, VFX, Gaming & AR/VR; Fashion, Textiles, Interiors, and Jewelry; and Product Design.
Sessions under the themes of Culture, Heritage Craft and Technology, and Journalism and Mass Communication drew strong participation from researchers, industrialists, and students. Research papers and poster presentations sparked discussion around creativity, sustainability, and innovation, while interactive panels gave young scholars opportunities to engage directly with experts.
Organizers emphasized that the format was designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry, encouraging collaboration across sectors.
The closing session honored participants for their contributions. Awards were presented for the best research papers in each category.
In a statement, conference leaders underscored that ICETDA 2025 “conveyed the message that design and art are not just academic subjects but powerful languages of expression, innovation, and intercultural dialogue.”
The event, they added, reinforced Poornima University’s vision of making Jaipur a hub for creativity and global collaboration in the arts.
