Income Tax Department attaches property worth Rs 100 cr, IAS officer’s wife under scanner
The land in Sirasi Road area was "gifted" to seven people.

Jaipur: In a case of benami assets, the Income Tax Department has taken a major action in Rajasthan. The officials have attached land covering 21 bighas at Sirsi Road in Jaipur. The estimated cost of this land is more than Rs 100 crores. Among the people under the scanner are an IAS officer’s wife and several government doctors among many others. Department has banned the purchase and endowment of the land.
On Sunday, the Income Tax Department acted on the recommendation of SDRI following the guidelines of the Benami Property Act 2016. As per reports, Ramu Ram Yadav had purchased the land in question in 1985-86. Later, this land was gifted to seven people.
In this total area, about 2 bigha 8 biswa land belongs to the wife of a promotee IAS officer . Another part of the landbelongs to a government doctor. The Income Tax Department believes that Ramu Ram Yadav, the owner of this land as per official documents, does not even exist.
The IAS officer in his defense has claimed that the land was given as a gift to his wife. He also stated that his wife had earlier written to the court and requested that the mutation of the property should not be done in her name. He also said that his wife hasn’t even occupied the place. According to him, due to a family dispute, someone complained to SDRI, after which the action was taken by the Income Tax Department.
