Jaipur: Governor and Chancellor of Rajasthan University, Kalraj Mishra, met with Prof. K.L. Srivastava, the Vice Chancellor of Jai Narayan Vyas University, Jodhpur. Prof. Srivastava has now taken over as the acting Vice Chancellor of Rajasthan University.
Additionally, Dr. Dev Swaroop, previously Vice Chancellor of Baba Amte Divyang University, has been entrusted with the role of Vice Chancellor at Skill University.
On Saturday, as Prof. Srivastava assumed his new role at Rajasthan University, the staff extended a warm welcome. Speaking on the occasion, Srivastava remarked, “Being a teacher myself, my foremost priority is to elevate the status of Rajasthan University. We will collaborate closely to make the university renowned not only in Rajasthan or India but globally.”
However, the appointment has sparked some discontent. The Rajasthan University Retired Employees Association protested against Srivastava’s appointment as acting Vice Chancellor. Mohammad Mustafa, Vice President of the association, criticized the move, stating, “The government should have appointed a permanent Vice Chancellor. If only an acting Vice Chancellor was to be appointed, someone from a university closer to Jaipur could have been considered.” He further highlighted the geographical challenges, pointing out that the distance between Jaipur and Jodhpur could impact Prof. Srivastava’s efficiency at both universities.
