Jaipur: A man was shot dead in broad daylight near Kanakpura railway crossing on Thursday as many commuters and local residents watched in horror. The victim, identified as Sunil Lakhera, was a hotel businessman and a history sheeter of Jhotwara police station, police said.
Lakhera had cases of land grabbing and betting registered against him. He owned some rentals and a hotel.

The incident occurred on Friday morning when Lakhera was passing through Kanakpura railway crossing.
Police officials said that Lakhera stopped his car and started chatting with a biker. They soon got into an argument. The biker who is suspected to be one Kesar Singh, took out a gun and fired repeatedly at Lakhera.
It was a country-made gun. Five shots were fired from point blank range. Pallets pierced Lakhera’s chest.
The police have recorded the statement of several eyewitnesses. Panic gripped the area as many commuters witnessed the shooting.
Police teams from nearby police stations rushed to the spot.
The police have rounded up a man identified as Kesar Singh and interrogation with him is going on.
The incident reminded residents of a shooting in broad daylight in Vidhyadhar Nagar area two years ago when a historysheeter Himmat Singh was gunned down. The incident had occurred at crowded Central Spine area of Vidhyadhar Nagar.
