Jaipur: Panic gripped Dhanmandi area in Kota after the building of a hotel caved in on Saturday. The mishap occurred allegedly because the building was in a dilapidated condition. At least six people are feared buried under the debris. A rescue operation has been launched pull out the trapped people. A man is learnt to have been rushed to a hospital for treatment. The district administration is yet to confirm the number of people who could be buried under the debris.
According to the police, the building of Sarovar Bar and Hotel in Dhan Mandi area caved in around 11.45 pm. The hotel was located in a busy commercial area. People passing by the hotel saw the building cave in. It created panic in the area.
Team of police and Kota municipal corporation rushed to the spot. According to preliminary investigation, the hotel is run by one Mohammed Anwar who is yet to be found. People alleged negligence on part of the municipal corporation officials as the building was not being allowed to operate as a hotel even when it was in a completely dilapidated condition.
A rescue operation was going to find out how many people were buried under the debris and pull them out till the reports last came in.
