Jaipur: The intelligence agencies have rounded up two Indian army jawans who were honey-trapped suspected by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency for sharing strategic and sensitive information with a woman after coming in contact with her through social media. The two were posted in Pokhran area of Jaisalmer district.

According to preliminary reports, the two army jawans are being brought to Jaipur after they were rounded up at Jodhpur Railway Station on Tuesday. One of the jawans hails from Orissa, while the other from Madhya Pradesh, sources said. They were detained when they were leaving for their natives places on vacation.

“Prima-facie, they are victims of a honey trap gang. They came in contact with a Pak woman through social media,” said a senior intelligence officer.

The woman had Punjabi dialect and posed as an Indian resident. She made internet calls (VoIP) to the two jawans and lured them into providing sensitive information about the areas in Jaisalmer and Barmer bordering Pakistan.

There are reports of financial transactions, but they were not officially confirmed.

It is suspected that the two jawans shared info about war practices, deployment and military equipment with the ISI.

The intelligence agencies had put them under surveillance and detained them after the communication between them and the woman was confirmed. They will be interrogated for more information about sensitive details they shared with the woman.
