Honey trap case: Woman arrested for blackmailing tax advocate

Jaipur: The city police have arrested a woman, Anita Choudhary alias Sapna, who allegedly blackmailed a Kota-based tax advocate, Sandeep Gupta, after threatening to implicate him in a bogus rape case. The woman was arrested from Gurugram (Gurgaon).

After befriending Sandeep on Facebook, she came to Jaipur on the pretext of helping him sell a resort of his client, stayed in a hotel and asked Sanjeev to stay with her. She then allegedly indulged in obscene acts and then threatened to implicate him in a rape case if he didn’t pay her Rs 5 lakh, senior police officials said.

DCP, east Kunwar Rashtradeep said that Sandeep had registered an FIR in this regard with Adarsh Nagar police station.

“As a tax advocate, Sandeep helps his clients sell and buy immovable properties. Earlier this month Sandeep came in contact with a woman named Sapana on a social media website. They stated chatting on WhatsApp also. Sandeep told her about his job and some properties he wanted to sell in Jaipur and Kota,” said the DCP.

The woman offered her help to sell Sunrise Resort and asked him to book a flight from Delhi to Jaipur on June 20. She asked her to book the flight in the name of Anita Choudhary.

“When she arrived in Hotel Ramada where a room had been booked by Sandeep, she asked the advocate to bring a bottle of wine as she was feeling tired. After a few drinks, she started indulging in obscene acts,” said the officer.

Sandeep said that he didn’t make physical relationship with her and slept on a different bed.  When he woke up the next morning, she started threatening him and said she was with ‘crime branch’ and her team was downstairs. She threatened that she would drag him to the police station and had him arrested.

Sandeep transferred Rs 10,000 online to her account. She made her write on a stamp that he had borrowed Rs 5 lakh from her.

A police team arrested the woman from Gurgaon on Monday and produced her in a court that sent her to one-day police remand.
